Embracing gratitude and joy – through all your ups and downs

Live with intention

Your Magenta Monday Magic.

Surrounding Yourself with Positive and Supportive People

As we round out our month-long gratitude exploration, I hope you’ve come to see that you can find gratitude and joy in almost any situation. Yes, sometimes it takes real effort, but it can be life-changing when you take the time to pause regularly and take note of what you are grateful for. 🖊️

There are so many spots in your day where you can take a moment to choose gratitude:

♡ When you are running all over town picking up and dropping off your kids.

♡ When you are paying the bills.

♡ When you finish a beautiful book that you didn’t want to end.

If you find yourself slipping into your negativity bias, complaining about how many bills you have to pay, or that you spent your entire day in the car, pause and ask yourself, ‘How can I turn this into gratitude and joy?’ 🤔

♡ You can be grateful for being able to have time with your kids.

♡ You can be grateful that you have money to pay your bills (for the roof over your head or that nice vacation you’re paying off.)

♡ You can be grateful you had the opportunity to be so moved by written words that it has changed you in some way.

As you journey through this chapter of your life, with all the upheaval that comes along with it – divorce, loss, moving to a new city, retiring, going back to work, kids leaving the nest, or experiencing a midlife crisis – remember to look at the challenges as opportunities for moments of gratitude.

With some (like divorce or loss) it may take a bit more time to feel gratitude and joy – so be patient with yourself. Give yourself lots of space, grace, and compassion. 🙏

If you have faced a divorce, for instance, see if you can be grateful for having had this person in your life, and for what he provided you with during the time you were together. It’s likely that you learned and grew as a result of your relationship – even if it’s difficult to think about just now.

And if you’ve faced the loss of a loved one, or experienced a midlife crisis? Finding gratitude for having someone in your life who you loved so much that losing them left a hole in your heart, well that’s a miracle in and of itself. Not every person gets the chance to find that kind of love. 💕

As you practice embracing gratitude and joy for all of life’s moments, both the mundane and the life-changing, you create space for healing and growth. That’s a much better place to be than when you’re focusing on anger, or worry, or pain, wouldn’t you say?

Keep looking for everything there is to be grateful for. The more you practice looking, the more joy you’ll experience at seeing everything there is to find. 🥰
