If you’re not growing, you’re dead

Your Magenta Monday Magic.

We all want to grow as human beings, right?

I know I do. I look back at some of the mistakes I’ve made in my life and I think, thank God I’ve grown since then.

Can you relate?

In fact life, by its very definition, is about growth.

According to Dictionary.com life is: ‘the condition that distinguishes organisms from inorganic objects and dead organisms, being manifested by growth through metabolism, reproduction, and the power of adaptation to environment through changes originating internally.’

Aka if you’re not growing, you’re not living. Or, to put it bluntly, you’re dead.

I don’t know about you, but I know I’m not ready for that!

But here’s the irony.

What happens when bravely we step out of our comfort zone into the unknown, the very place where personal growth happens?

Fear.

If you’re anything like me, you know it all too well. That squeamish-uncomfortable-makes-you-want-to-turn-tail-and-run feeling.

And it gets in our way. Every. Time.

Why do we react with fear? It’s a natural reaction to the unknown.

So, when we want to grow, how do we do it?

Be Brave.

Turns out bravery is a critical element - and probably one of the most challenging ones for us to embrace.

But know this - bravery doesn’t mean an absence of fear. What it means is that we may be terrified, but we choose to move forward anyway.

I believe that being brave means that you put a stake in the ground for yourself.

Your values.

Your needs.

Your wants.

Your life.

It means fending off any attempt to compromise them, whether self-inflicted or not.

And let’s face it, as moms we’re not really used to doing that. In fact, if you’re feeling downright uncomfortable right now, that’s a good sign.

Because growth doesn’t happen in your comfort zone.

This month we’re going to dig into what it means to be brave, and explore all the ways you can bring more bravery in your daily life. Both big and small.

We’ll also explore why being brave is so damn hard, yet so damn rewarding at the same time.

Are you ready? Let’s take the plunge.

Monday Mindshift

It’s the 1° shift that makes the biggest difference over time.

Fear is a reaction. Courage is a decision. ~ Winston Churchill

Being brave doesn’t mean an absence of fear. What it means is doing the thing, even when we feel afraid.

So this week, put that stake in the ground for yourself and take one brave step.

It can be anything. The key is to not fight the fear, but instead take a deep breath and choose to embrace the uncomfortable. Ask yourself, what’s the worst thing that can happen?

Remember: The alternative to growth is…death?

Love,
