Your Magenta Monday Magic.
Wow, it’s been quite a month! We’ve been talking all about living our truth this month, and we’ve looked at so many different ways to embody your truth in the physical realm.
First, we talked about how to get curious to ‘solve the mystery’ of you – how paying attention to your body can bring you closer to determining your truth so you can move towards putting a stake in the ground for you, especially during mom midlife crisis!
The following week we talked about establishing a practice of focusing on the present – and looked at how paying attention to our bodies can get us there.
Tools such as meditation and breathing exercises support us to mindfully focus on the present and notice the information our bodies share with us – the clues and cues we got used to ignoring during our years of looking after everyone else.
We then identified that negative voice we often use to speak to ourselves – in ways we would never talk to a loved one! And then we talked about flipping the script – replacing self-criticism with self-compassion… and all the ways of treating ourselves with the love we reserve for others, really supports us living our truth.
Finding purpose as an empty nester can also be guided by paying attention to the things that bring you joy and fulfillment. Take note of the activities that make you feel alive and inspired, and make time for them regularly. These can provide clues to your passions and interests, which can help you define your purpose and give direction to your life.
Your intuition. Your inner knowing. That little voice inside that nudges you one way or another.
There is gold in your intuition – if you pay attention to it.
If you get quiet enough to hear it, it will lead you directly to your truth.
“Trust your instincts. Intuition doesn’t lie.” Oprah Winfrey
The work that we’ve done all month to get present, tap into our body’s clues, and re-train our inner voice to love ourselves – that’s all work that will support tapping into our intuition.
Sometimes your intuition may not even make logical sense, but you have wisdom within you, in your body, that goes beyond what you can access quickly and clearly in your mind.
I’m not saying to throw caution to the wind and abandon all common sense, but in those moments when you notice a particular feeling in your body – take a moment to pause and pay attention. Ask yourself, “Hmm, what’s this all about?” And then give yourself a bit of space to reflect.
Sometimes your intuition can offer you the wisdom that will guide you towards growth – if you can manage to stay present, be mindful, and hear it speaking to you.
Returning to the body scan exercise we introduced last week, I want you to try dropping into your body to expand on your capacity to access your intuition when you have something weighing on your mind.
Let’s say you’re in the process of reinventing yourself after empty nest, and you come across an opportunity to volunteer at a local animal shelter. While it’s not a paying job, you feel drawn to the idea of helping animals and being part of a community that shares your values. However, you also have concerns about the time commitment and whether you have the necessary skills to contribute. Despite these doubts, the idea of working with animals and making a positive impact on their lives resonates deeply with you.
THAT’s your intuition telling you that it’s not the right fit.
Conversely, if every cell in your body is singing, if you feel a lightness in your step or just an overall positive feeling – if it ‘feels good’ in your body, then taking the job is most likely in alignment with your truth. It’s likely a choice that will support you – and choosing it will help you step into the embodiment of your spirit.
The things that feel good to us intuitively are typically the ones that we’re meant for.
Tapping into our intuitive direction – getting to know it and learning to listen to it – will help to move us closer to living our truth.
Remember – you are powerful and intuitive. And though this road to self-rediscovery can feel a little rocky at times as you try new things and relearn what is most important to you, the journey is worth the work. As you practice being present, paying attention to everything inside you, and ensuring your choices align with your truth, your confidence will continue to grow.
Trust in yourself. All the answers are within you.
Monday Mindshift
It’s the 1° shift that makes the biggest difference over time.
Continue incorporating the practices you’ve learned this month that resonate with you – the ones you have enjoyed the most. Maybe you found a guided meditation or a breathing technique that you love – keep practicing it.
Perhaps you’ve started speaking to yourself in a more positive affirmative way – with the same love and care that you use when you speak to someone you love. Keep at it! It will only become more natural with time. Or, if your way to increase your self-compassion has been to establish a daily routine – congratulations! I hope you’ll continue down that path and that it helps you grow stronger every day with living your truth.
How did you do with the body scan? I hope it has helped you become more attuned to the signals your body is sending you, and that it’s helped you tap into your intuition.
I encourage you to stick with these practices and keep making strides towards opening your mind and heart, tapping into your body, and being guiding towards living your own truth.
