Your Magenta Monday Magic.
Can you believe we’re approaching the halfway mark of 2024 already?
Our focus this month will center on prioritizing your physical, mental, and spiritual health and getting on a wellness journey. The Health pillar is fundamental to your ability to live a BRIGHTer life because whether you want to meet friends for lunch, play pickleball, or hike Mt. Kilimanjaro, you want to be able to show up as your best self – in body, mind, and spirit! 🫀
If you’ve ever suffered from a bad back or battled an illness, you know just how debilitating physical health challenges can be. Not only do you end up dealing with pain, but you also have to face the mental challenge of having to curtail your daily routine to rest and recover.
Keeping your spirits isn’t easy when you can’t get through the day without struggling to do even the bare minimum.
Get on a wellness journey cause poor health can seriously impact the quality of your life. 🤕
So what’s a woman to do? As you grow older, must you just accept that declining health is one of life’s inevitabilities?
I say absolutely not! Yes, we definitely become more susceptible to aches, pains, and illnesses as we age. Anyone who has aging parents - or is going through this herself - knows this intimately.
But remember, as with all the pillars:
The key to creating a life you love is living with intention – identifying what you want more of in your life, and taking action to get it.
If you want to live an active, satisfying life, you must take action to get it.
I’m not saying that taking care of yourself will keep you from ever having to deal with poor health as you age. It’s more like when you buy an insurance policy; you never know for sure that you’ll need it, but when you do, you’re sure glad to have it. Maintaining good health along the way may not prevent you from facing health challenges as you age, but it will ensure you will be stronger, more resilient, and more apt to recover quickly.
I know that if I eat well, exercise regularly, drink plenty of water, do the things that feed my soul, and regularly visit my doctor and dentist, I stand a much better chance of facing down whatever is coming down the pike. I can handle it from a position of confidence and strength, knowing that I’ve done everything possible to take care of my physical health. 🏋️
Now is the time to act if you want to have a better chance of living a long, happy, healthy life doing the things you want to do. Within that discipline lies your commitment to yourself –for both the short term and long term.
So, if you’ve been putting off scheduling your next mammogram, or you haven’t joined the gym you’ve been talking about, or you’ve been considering seeing a therapist to help with your anxiety, take the opportunity this month to recommit to the future you.
Let this month support you with getting intentional about taking small steps towards living a healthy life. 👣
Monday Mindshift
It’s the 1° shift that makes the biggest difference over time.
Getting started with your wellness journey – or even just stepping it up a notch – can feel overwhelming. If you feel yourself heading down that slippery slope, the one that inevitably leads to beating yourself up for not taking action, I want you to shift your mindset by temporarily pressing pause – rather than heading into paralysis.
Instead of feeling overwhelmed by the list of all the things you have to do – pause, shift your perspective, and look at the list as things you get to do.
✅I get to go to spinning vs. I have to go to spinning.
✅I get to make my gyno appointment vs. I have to make my gyno appointment.
✅I get to spend some time meditating each morning vs. I have to.
Shifting how you talk about ways to be proactive with your health can help alleviate that feeling of drudgery. And when you consider the fact that so many other women don’t have access to these simple things, it will help you see the gift in the fact that you get to do them for yourself.
Wishing you love and good health!
