Your Magenta Monday Magic.
So far this month, we have talked about what living a life of intention means and how vital that is in creating a life you love.
“Over time, even the tiniest meaningful actions add up, each one bringing you closer to a life that is truer to your dreams and free of regret.”
— Jane McGonigal, SuperBetter: The Power of Living Gamefully
Last week you did a visioning (and feeling!) exercise as a way to pick a word that closely represented what you wanted your life to look and feel like.
It’s important to remember that sometimes what we have envisioned for our life doesn’t end up looking the way we thought it would at all! Sometimes it can be even better!
By not just focusing on the vision, but also on ‘the feel’ you will become open to and aware of unexpected things that may start suddenly showing up in your life.
I’m reminded of a post I made on Facebook in May of 2020. We are not typically a ‘puzzle people’, but had received one of Cinque Terre that we put out for Thanksgiving in 2019. It sat untouched until the lockdown in March of 2020 when Charlie and I - with little else to do - started working on it.
As a relative novice at puzzles, I’m struck by how when looking for a piece, I think I know what it should look like - what colors it has, or what shape it is - and have often found myself frustrated that after checking each piece, I can’t find it!
It isn’t until I return sometime later with fresh eyes and a different perspective that the piece miraculously appears in front of me looking NOTHING like I thought it would, but fitting perfectly in place nonetheless.
I think this is a beautiful metaphor for life. How often have you looked for that perfect thing in your life - knowing exactly what it should look like, only to have it show up looking totally different? Yet, it still fills your heart and makes you happy.
What would happen if you focused instead on how you want to feel, so that when it shows up it fills you up, no matter what packaging it’s in?
Monday Mindshift
It’s the 1° shift that makes the biggest difference over time.
Last week, you did an exercise and came up with one word that you want to focus on for the year.
This week you are going to think about your word and come up with 3 actions you can take that relate to that word.
For example, if your word is love:
Action 1: Plan a date night with your partner.
Action 2: Send a sweet card to your mom.
Action 3: Get together with a girlfriend for lunch.
By acting with intention around the word you’ve chosen, you are setting the wheels in motion to create a life you love!
Remember, creating a life you love doesn’t happen overnight. It takes small, consistent actions every single day. Just keep taking small steps and continue to check in as you go to make sure your actions are always in alignment with who you are, your values, and the life you want to lead.
Love,
PS. I’d love to hear what activities you did to connect to your intentions! I invite you to share your thoughts and ideas with us in Thriving Mom’s Collective FB Group!
